Our aim to through the funding offer elderly people an opportunity to have a social excursion via a day trip. This would allow those attending to meet their peers and travel outside of London something most would not have experienced for years. We feel that this would have an enormous impact on the well-being of those travelling and the cost benefit will be minimal (costing around £6 per person funded by HWCT).
We aim to have two trips each trip will support 53 beneficiaries. Therefore with two trips we would be supporting 106 beneficiaries. The project will focus on Turkish Speakers who are from the from the catchment area, however if non Turkish Speakers sign up they will not be turned away.
We have chosen two places that can be travelled to within a day and that are appropriate for the elderly. If funding is secured we are hopeful that we would be able to deliver the project in the month of early October and would benefit from milder days and before we hit winter
The project will be supported by two escorts (fully qualified first aider and CRB checked) and two volunteers. We aim to restrict disabled to those who are able to move with minimal support. We will complete an evaluation at the end of the project, add the project into our Annual Report and have the activities covered in the Turkish Community paper.
