Who are TCCA?

Since its founding in 1976 the Turkish Cypriot Community Association (TCCA) has been in the forefront of serving some 120,000 British Turkish Cypriots residing in the UK through needs led projects. During those early years London already had a well-established Turkish Cypriot community, who by then had become fully involved within the British work force, the establishment of the community centre in Hackney 117 Green Lanes, being a natural step forward.

The centre was home of a number of community projects ranging from the first Turkish language weekly newspaper in the UK Toplum Postasi to Homecare, which has grown into a highly successful care service for the elderly and vulnerable. Equally successful and highly popular, the TCCA’s Heritage Project funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund is one of the few historical documentations of Turkish Cypriot migration to the British Isles. Numerous projects pertaining to Yoga, ESOL, Film, Youth, Dance, Fire Safety and Road Safety as well as a regular Police Surgery  have also proved popular in the community.

In 2000, TCCA successfully tendered and acquired its second premises 630 Green Lanes. The second premises allow TCCA the space and resource to develop new innovative needs led project. With new projects to be announced soon, once again, TCCA is leading in serving the needs of UK’s Turkish Cypriot community.
